Additional Mac Security Steps for Zoho Assist

Some of these changes will be dependent on the version of macOS that you are currently wondering

  1. Your Mac will Download a dmg called JoinMac.dmg and when opened it will mount a disk image and then double click Join. A new prompt will come up saying you are opening an application from a disk image, Click Open.
  2. The Mac will ask a security question: Allow ‘Zoho’ to find devices on local network, Click Allow.
  3. Click Join on the window after you Allow from the previous window. This should be the open disk image window.

  4.  A new pop up will come up saying that Zoho Assist requires Accessibility and Screen Recording, Click Proceed

  5. On the new pop up there will be two, click Configure, one for Accessibility and the other for Screen & System Audio Recording. Click the Proceed button to the right of Accessibility

  6. This will automatically go to the Accessibility in System Settings(Preferences). You may have a list of applications and at the bottom will be Zoho. Click the button to the right of Zoho and Turn on Zoho and make sure it is active. A authentication window will come up and you will have to enter your password

  7. The Zoho Assist permission window will come back to the top and then click Configure for Screen & System Audio Recording. This will automatically take you to the System Settings(Preferences) for Screen & System Audio Recording. Follow the same procedure from before and Turn on Zoho.

  8. A new warning pop up will come on saying Zoho is requesting to bypass the system private window, Click Allow

  9. The Zoho Assist window will become active again, Click Proceed.

  10. You will now see the System Settings(Preferences) prompt. Click Quit & Reopen

  11. After clicking Quit & Reopen a new prompt will come up asking to Join, Click Join

  12. Now the remote session will start.

Please note that we may ask you for Administrative Privilege's in order to install or modify settings or applications. The additional steps for that process are listed below.

  1. We will initiate a Administrator request on our side and this will quit the Zoho Assist program on the your system and then relaunch it with administrator privileges and security settings.

  2. On the Mac system you can now click Allow and Proceed for the new prompts that come up. You will have to click the last Proceed button and System Prompt to remove them.

  3. We can view your screen at this point and help assist further but we may not have keyboard/mouse access. You will have to go to your System Settings(Preferences) under the Apple in the left hand corner. Click Privacy & Security and navigate to Accessibility. Click the + icon below the ‘Allow the applications below to control your computer'. Enter your password and a new pop up will be shown. Navigate to the ZohoJoin Disk image on the desktop and click ‘Join’, then click open in the bottom right and quit System Settings(Preferences)

  4. It is possible that we still can not click or open windows so we would want you to navigate back into Accessibility inside System Settings(Preferences) and turn off Zoho and turn it back on. This did solve the issue on the Macs' we tested it on.

  5. You will still have the Zoho Assist program in your downloads and you can now delete that.

  6. It will download a new application for each new session. Unless the Zoho Customer Plugin application was previously installed by a staff member from CRC.
